Privacy Policy
The short version
- GoodGame has no account with us and no GoodGame server. Your stream goes from your phone straight to YouTube.
- The app has no analytics, ads or tracking. Nothing about the people watching your stream is collected.
- Your stream key and Google sign-in stay in your phone's Keychain and are sent only to YouTube and Google.
- Team setups, logos, sponsor images and game recordings stay on your phone.
- We see your data only if you email us, for example with a bug report.
- We don't sell or share personal data.
1. Who we are
GoodGame is made by Honey Dog Media LLC, a Minnesota company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the GoodGame iPhone app and this website do with information, as GoodGame is built today. When we add a feature that changes this, we'll update this policy before the feature ships.
GoodGame is for the adults who run a team's stream: coaches, parents and volunteers. In this policy, "you" means that person, the operator.
2. What stays on your phone
GoodGame stores what it needs on your iPhone, not with us. We never receive it.
| What | Where it's kept | Who it's sent to |
|---|---|---|
| Team setups, team names, logos, sponsor images and on-screen messages | In GoodGame's storage on your phone | Shown in your stream on YouTube. Not sent to us. |
| Any player names or numbers you enter | On your phone | Shown in your stream only if you put them there. Not sent to us. |
| YouTube stream key | Your phone's Keychain, this device only. Only the last 4 characters are ever shown. | YouTube only |
| Google sign-in token (if you connect your YouTube channel) | Your phone's Keychain, this device only | Google and YouTube only |
| Game recordings | On your phone, in Files › GoodGame. Not included in iCloud or device backups. | No one, unless you share a file yourself |
| Diagnostics log | On your phone | Us, only if you choose to email a bug report (section 5) |
Recordings. GoodGame saves a recording of each game on your phone. You decide what to keep, delete or share. Game video is large, so GoodGame keeps recordings out of iCloud and device backups. If you want a copy somewhere else, move it yourself from the Files app. Recording file names use the date and team names only, and GoodGame writes no location into the files.
Removing data. You can delete recordings in the Files app, and team setups in GoodGame. Deleting the app deletes its stored data and recordings. Items in the iOS Keychain can remain after an app is deleted, so to remove your Google sign-in, use DISCONNECT in GoodGame before you delete the app.
GoodGame doesn't use cookies. The storage described above is the only data GoodGame keeps on your device.
3. Camera, microphone and your stream
GoodGame asks for the camera and microphone to make your stream. The video and sound are put together on your phone and sent directly to your own YouTube channel over an encrypted connection (RTMPS). GoodGame runs no server in between, and we never receive your video or sound.
GoodGame shows when you're on air, and the microphone is only used while you're live. You can turn off camera or microphone access at any time in iOS Settings › GoodGame.
What you stream is published by YouTube under your channel and YouTube's rules. YouTube's handling of your stream and its viewers is covered by Google's Privacy Policy, not this one.
4. YouTube and Google (YouTube API Services)
GoodGame uses YouTube API Services. By using GoodGame's YouTube features you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Connecting your channel
You can stream by entering your channel's stream key, or you can connect your YouTube channel by signing in with Google. When you connect, Google asks your permission for GoodGame to manage your YouTube account (the scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl).
What GoodGame does with that access
GoodGame uses it only to:
- find or create the live broadcast for the game you're streaming;
- link that broadcast to your channel's stream;
- take the broadcast live;
- read the broadcast's status, so the app can show you it's working;
- end the broadcast.
New broadcasts that GoodGame creates are set to Unlisted and not made for kids by default. You can change them in YouTube.
GoodGame doesn't read, change or delete your other videos, comments, subscribers or channel settings, and it doesn't use your YouTube data for advertising.
What's stored and shared
The Google sign-in token is stored in your phone's Keychain (this device only) and sent only to Google and YouTube. Information GoodGame reads about your broadcasts is used on your phone to run the game you're streaming and is not sent to us or anyone else. We never receive your Google or YouTube data.
Disconnecting and revoking access
Tap DISCONNECT in GoodGame to sign out. GoodGame then revokes its access with Google and deletes the Google sign-in token and any other Google data it stored from your phone.
You can also remove GoodGame's access at any time from your Google Account's security settings: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.
Limited Use
GoodGame's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. Diagnostics and bug reports
GoodGame keeps a diagnostics log on your phone: technical notes about how the app and the stream are running. It stays on your phone.
If you choose Report a Bug, GoodGame opens an email to [email protected] with the diagnostics attached. Nothing is sent until you tap Send. Your stream key is removed from diagnostics before they're attached.
We use bug reports, and any other email you send us, only to help you and to fix GoodGame. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace. We keep bug reports and support emails for up to 12 months, then delete them.
6. Apple, TestFlight and the App Store
Apple delivers GoodGame to your phone. If you test GoodGame through TestFlight, Apple shares with us what its TestFlight terms describe, such as the name and email you were invited with, and any feedback, screenshots or crash reports you choose to send. If you've chosen in iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also send us crash reports and usage statistics that don't identify you. We use these only to fix and improve GoodGame. Apple's handling of this data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. This website
gogoodgame.com sets no cookies, runs no ads and has no forms. Its fonts and images are served from this site. Cloudflare hosts it; to deliver pages and protect the site, Cloudflare's servers handle standard technical details of each visit, such as your IP address and browser type. We don't use these to identify or follow you.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how fast pages load. Cloudflare says it does not collect visitors' personal data or track people across websites. We see only totals, such as page views, pages visited, referring sites, browser and country, never who you are. Cloudflare also hides our email addresses from spam bots; a small Cloudflare script shows them to you.
8. Children and streaming youth sports
GoodGame is for adults. There are no child accounts, and GoodGame doesn't collect personal information from children.
GoodGame streams youth sports, so streams will often show minors. The operator is responsible for having the team's or association's permission to stream and for following that policy. GoodGame helps limit exposure:
- new YouTube broadcasts start as Unlisted, so only people with the link can find them;
- recordings stay on your phone, and their file names use only the date and team names;
- GoodGame writes no location into streams or recordings.
If you're a parent or guardian and want a stream or recording taken down, contact the team or association that made it. They control their YouTube channel. You can also report it to YouTube, or email us at [email protected] and we'll help you reach the right person.
9. Selling and sharing
We don't sell personal data, including sensitive data and data about children. We don't share it for advertising, and we don't use it to build profiles. GoodGame contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. The only outside services involved are the ones you use directly: YouTube and Google for your stream, and Apple for the app.
10. How long data is kept
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Anything on your phone (setups, recordings, diagnostics, Keychain items) | Until you delete it, use DISCONNECT, or delete the app. You're in control. |
| Bug reports and support emails sent to us | Up to 12 months, then deleted |
| Google or YouTube data | We never receive it |
| Deletion requests | We delete what we hold about you when you ask |
11. Your rights
Minnesota's Consumer Data Privacy Act and similar laws give you rights over your personal data. Most of your GoodGame data is on your own phone, where you can see and delete it yourself. For anything we hold, like emails you've sent us, you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we have personal data about you, and give you a copy you can take elsewhere;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- tell you the third parties we've disclosed it to (normally none);
- stop any sale, targeted advertising or profiling (we don't do any of these).
Email [email protected]. We'll answer within 45 days and won't charge you. We may ask you to confirm the request came from you. If we turn down a request, we'll explain why and how to appeal; if you disagree with the outcome of your appeal, you can contact the Minnesota Attorney General.
12. Security
Your stream key and Google sign-in are kept in the iOS Keychain, limited to your device. Streams travel to YouTube over an encrypted connection. Because we don't run a server or keep your data, there's very little of it for anyone to get from us.
13. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy before GoodGame starts handling information in a new way. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
